The importance of orderliness and calm
During my WIL practice I observed that some school consider orderliness and calm as a way of controlling both the school and the behavior of the learners because a school without order will be like a playing ground were learners have no guidelines on what to do when they are at school and even the teacher will do things on their own not following the school measures and instructions.
calm and orderliness in my WIL practice was considered because it is important to run your things in an order so that you wont have a misunderstanding at the end, like the teachers in the school were making sure that their classroom are always managed in order to promote a good behavior to the learners because once a class is not managed this will also promote a bad influence towards the learners as they will not have the skills of how to be in order and stay calm.
I observed that in order to make your pupils to be calm in the classroom, firstly you need to set rules that each learner will be able to understand, demonstrate a positive behavior towards the learners, have different strategies on how to handle those who misbehave in the classroom but this must be done in a polite way because the more you become hard to them it is the more they wont be calm and they wont even understand you at all.
the principal of the school was making sure the the school yard and the classes are clean so that the learners will learn that when they enter their classroom they must make sure that they keep it clean otherwise a punishment will follow them, this strategy of giving them punishment made the learners to be in order and it even increased their behavior.
The school rules were followed by both the teachers and the learners, the learners were always in time in the morning so that they can go to the assembly , they were always clean on their uniforms and they were alerted that fighting is not permitted in the school premises that is why i didn't see learners fighting if they had problems they report it to their class teacher so that he or she can solve it politely without nobody being hurt.
Great observation! Rules help children to feel safe because they know where their boundaries are.
